The debate around the best way or how long to stretch still continues in the industry but it’s agreeable that given our lifestyle the majority of us need to be doing some form of stretching / range of motion work to compensate for the restrictions / tightness that occurs from those lifestyles.
Whether you are a high level athlete or just someone who “feels” stiff your goal is to release tension and improve range of motion. How you do that is up to you, but it doesn’t have to be overly complicated.
So, we’ve created a very simple how to stretch video to get you started, you can implement this in to any stretching routine.
How often and how long you should stretch for is quite simply determined by what your objectives are.
Me, I have something called femoral hip impingement so since my late teens (I’m now 44) I’ve been / stiff tight pretty much every day.
So, I tend to do some type of release work every day, sometimes just a minute or two, other days 30-45 minutes – I just do it as I feel I need it!
